B - postgraduate studies, research
Duration: 3-21 days or 1-10 months
Can be applied for by: applicants holding a Master’s degree or an equivalent university degree, including PhD students who intend to do research for their dissertation, yet wish to stay in Hungary for less than 12 months. (However, PhD students cannot acquire credits at their host universities.)
Age limit: 40 years
Every application must contain two (2) copies of the documents listed below in one of the following languages: English, French or German[1] in the order given. In addition, online application will also be required on the HSB website.

Curriculum Vitae (there are no criteria for the printed version; in the online system you have to fill in the form under the menu point “Edit Your CV”)

Copy of highest degree/diploma (i.e. MA or MSc degree)

Precise and detailed work plan – maximum two pages

Certificate of proficiency in Hungarian – unless there is another agreed upon working language for the proposed course/programme (to be attached to the letter of invitation)

Two letters of recommendation from two recognized experts in the relevant discipline

Letter of invitation by the future host institution in Hungary (In case an applicant wishes to study in a postgraduate course, that must be tuition-free.)

Medical certificate of satisfactory health condition (it is issued by the family/district doctor)
Applicants for music/arts scholarships have to attach the following documents in addition:
- For painters, graphic artists and sculptors: photographs of three (3) works of art / sketches (with date)
- For performing artists (musicians) and conductors: high quality recordings of three (3) different styles of music, conductors have to submit three (3) original scores.
Applicants for graphic and fine arts as well as music may be required to take additional exams in the relevant Hungarian host institution before being granted a scholarship.
Applicants who wish to study at the Liszt Academy of Music should contact the International Department of the Academy (e-mail: Hars.Borbala@lisztakademia.hu or Pandi.Zita@lisztakademia.hu phone: +36 1 462 4615, +36 1 462 4616) for detailed information concerning the application process and they should ask for a letter of acceptance from the International Department of the Academy before preparing their applications for a HSB scholarship.
The HSB Office cannot accept letters of acceptance issued by a professor of the Academy. Applicants should send their applications to the Liszt Academy of Music no later than 15 February 2011 because they will have to take an entrance examination (except for some researchers). In the application form that you send to the Academy, you should mention that you are simultaneously applying for a HSB scholarship. The final decision of the Hungarian Scholarship Board will be made after the applicant is admitted to the Liszt Academy of Music.
Financial provision
HUF 79 200 stipend per month and HUF 70 000 accommodation allowance per month, for scholarships 21 days or shorter, accommodation allowance and a stipend of HUF 3000/day. These amounts are paid by the HSB Office.
[1] In case one of the documents submitted (certificate of the highest degree/diploma, proof of enrolment, supporting documents) is not in one of these languages, it is requested to submit a translation thereof.
